Description

Considered by Fig Boss “the standard for fig varieties when grown in humid climates…  though well adapted to all climates…  It is also called the sugar fig for its sweet flavor.”

In our area, the coloration can be variable.  Charles says, “About 10 years ago at a Fruit Festival, a group of fig experts told me that Celeste has a very high number of sub-varieties. These vary widely in size, particularly color, etc…  At my house, they become light maroon to burgundy with greenish undertones when fully (!) ripe. They are vibrantly reddish inside and very tasty.”
