When our meetings are open to the public, why join the West LA Chapter? Well, holy bananas, there’s a bunch of reasons.
First of all, the meetings are only every-other month. The alternate months are Field Trips. Since these are often to private homes (where we get for example to see how our fellow fruit growers are fitting 150 trees into a regular city lot), we must restrict them to our members only.
Secondly, the definite highlight of the California Rare Fruit Growers’ year is our annual scion exchange in February. While the grafting demonstrations are open to the public, access to the scionwood is again restricted to members only.
Thirdly, where else can you find such a bargain? Chapter dues for 2017 are $10 for an entire year (and there’s a discount for a longer committment)! Yes, this is a teensy increase over last year but the rent on our meeting place has also risen. (And if you could find us a good, cheap, permanent home there might be a Lifetime Membership in it for you…)
Please note that you must be a member of our parent organization in order to be a recognized member of this, or any other, chapter. If you are not already a member of crfg.org or do not join speedily, your chapter dues will be refunded.
You can join our national organization by clicking here. Membership for both chapter and national is assumed to be a family membership.
And look, you can now join our chapter online as well. Note, it will always be possible to pay by check at any meeting or by mailing a check to our treasurer. Please Contact Us for her address.
And hey, if you are feeling super-generous, go ahead and donate us some money. CRFG-WLA is a registered non-profit and all donations are tax-deductible.
